Celebrate early spring with a tour and reception at The Schubert Club Museum, a presentation by Barry Kempton, Artistic & Executive Director, and a brief song recital.

Located on the second floor of the iconic Saint Paul’s Landmark Center, The Schubert Club Museum offers visitors a reflection on music-making through the centuries. From a massive “cyclone” sculpture of instruments, through the gallery of historic keyboards, to the impressive collection of correspondence from famous composers, music boxes, and phonographs, the Museum opens a window on the inspiring role of music in people’s lives.

The Schubert Club fosters an engaged community of music enthusiasts through concerts, music education, composer residences, museum exhibits, and student scholarships.  This winter, concerts feature violinist Susie Park, pianist Daniil Trifonov, the Sphinx Virtuosi, Border CrosSing, and new works by Michael Maiorana.

Barry Kempton was appointed Artistic & Executive Director of the Schubert Club following 25 years in music administration in Edinburgh, London, and St. Paul.  Educated in Southampton and Bristol, England, he played piano and trombone from an early age and was a brass semi-finalist in the prestigious BBC Young Musician of the Year competition.  He held several administrative positions at the Scottish Chamber Orchestra in Edinburgh, the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra, and the City of London Sinfonia. Barry moved back to Saint Paul to lead the Schubert Club, Minnesota’s oldest arts organization, in January 2012.

We will be joined by soprano Natalia Romero Arbeláez and pianist Jared Miller, who will present a brief selection of songs featured in Border CrosSing's 2019-2020 season.
